About Me

Since you've made the effort to come and see me, I really should introduce myself.

Hi, I am FraidyKat. In the real world my name is Leonie Holmes.

Me and a beautiful 1 year old Lion in Mauritius who is part of breeding program for the eventual repatriation of his Pride to Africa.

FraidyKat is a name inspired by my excessively neurotic and permanently paranoid cat. I chose it because for many years I was afraid to let anyone see my writing, I was too worried about being judged to let anything go public but now I'm old enough to have developed thicker skin and to be a little braver about facing the world.

I now live in the countryside of middle England but I have been a little nomadic living at various places in the country before settling here until my children are old enough to join me on more adventures.
So far in my life, I have flown a biplane, petted Lions and Cheetahs, walked over the crater of an active Volcano, watched Icebergs calving and fallen off a glacier (friction burns from ice are a novel and yet uncomfortable experience). I'm not sure where life will take me next, but I don't know adrenaline will be involved.


All these experiences I pour into my books, along with a love for life and an empathy for the terrible things I inevitably put my favourite characters through.


Writing without love is a mere scribble.
